Résumé :
Range expansion of Pygmy Owl in Jura mountains. Known as a breeding bird in the Jura mountains in the 19th century, Pygmy Owf remained al most unrecorded for hundred years. The species was rediscovered in 1977 in the highest parts of the Jura mountains ( over 1100 m asf) and its distribution was clarified during the 80s. Rather stable during the 90s, the breeding range of Pygmy Owf in the Jura mountains extended rapid!J westward and northward in the first decade of the 21 st century. At the same time, Pygmy Owl occupied coniferous forests at fower altitude: 75 % are situated above 950 m, but 15 sites are fower with 4 recorded under 700 m, the lowest at 520 m. The current range of Pygmy Owl appears to be simifar in both the French and Swiss part of the Jura mountains.
